VWA is a non- profit organisation founded in 1984 to represent
and provide the settlement needs and address concerns of Vietnamese women and their families in NSW. VWA is managed by a voluntary
management committee. Objectives - Support and assist Vietnamese women and their families to
resettle in Australian society - Promote women’s rights, opportunities and social participation. - Maintain and promote Vietnamese cultural heritage in a multi-cultural society. Services VWA provides initial support, advocacy and referral services
on a range of settlement needs including accommodation, income support, employment training, health, legal aid, domestic violence,
disability and discrimination (Casework, Groupwork and Community Development) VWA also conducts English Classes, job seeking workshops, support
groups, to improve women’s self esteem, confidence, through social network, various training, seminars & group activitiess.
We work in collaboration with Vietnamese and non Vietnamese services, government and non-government agencies to initiate programs
and projects to address issues identified. Advocacy and Training VWA also provides talks and seminars to community workers from
government and non- government agencies on issues affecting Vietnamese women and their families, the barriers impacting their
access to services and the strategies to improve their access to mainstream services. |
